This bat is a rare, uncommon variation of the Louisville Slugger Hillerich & Bradsby Co, 40 B.R. Baby Ruth Bat. This bat is from 1933-1934. Through research with experts I learned the common version from this time period (1933-1934) had "Powerized and Oil Tempered" on the bats with "Trade Mark Reg U.S. Pat Off". Starting in 1934 this was changed to only "Trademark Reg" while in 1935 "Powerized" alone was used exclusively. However, during this time period whe...re these changes were going on in the branding there were a limited number of bats produced with the "Trade Mark Reg U.S. Pat Off" marking AND Powerized alone versus the "Powerized and Oil Tempered" which is the common branding for this time period. I started doing research on this bat as for several years I had tried to find one with the exact markings seen on this bat, i.e. both the "Trade Mark Reg U.S. Pat Off" under the oval AND only Powerized and had never seen one with these exact markings. The results of those inquiries are as above and that this is a rare and uncommon variation. I have included many pictures. Please view for details. The bat has some dings and scuffs but the markings are clear. There is a chip missing on the side of the knob (see pictures), and a very small (about 1 inch) surface crack at the end of the bat where all the dings and surface scuffs are, but otherwise the bat has no breaks or repairs or nails or large or integrity compromising cracks. It is stamped 36" on the knob to indicate length which they did on all store model bats. It weighs 34 ounces. There is residue from a grip on the handle as seen in the pictures.
