As per the website, "The Web site's "The History of Blue Danube" sections reads: "The Blue Danube pattern was inspired by a similar pattern created during the Yuan dynasty (1260-1368 A.D.) in China. It represents the design variation attributed to the German artist Kandler. The flowers in the Blue Danube pattern depict the ancient Chinese symbols of good fortune and happiness. The original design, with some variations, made its way to Eastern Europe, where it has been produced for approximately 200 years."
Lipper International marked its pieces with a variety of backstamps. The Blue Danube in a banner back-stamp was used from 1951 through 1976.
