1 pg. letter, approx. 7-5/8" x 8-5/8", dated at Philadelphia, Pa., Aug. 26, 1710, from John M. Williams, to his brother (in-law) Thomas Edgar, in Dumfries, Scotland.
The folded letter is addressed: "To Mr. Thos. Edgar, Mercht. In Dumfries, These"
Included are 2 enclosures referred to in the letter, each a Bill of Exchange, one dated at New York City, May 17, 1710, the other at "Nanticoke", July 18, 1710.
The letter includes:
"These comes with Humble service to y...ourself and sister, Duty to Mother, and Love to Brother & Sister Hand and to Bro. & Sister John Green..(?) and to all other Enquiring Friends. I have written July to you and Mr. Brown jointly both...sending of goods and sending rigging and sails for a Sloop which we design to have launched the first of March next for the West Indies Trade. We have sent first & 2d Bills to Mr. Brown for 120 on our acct. If the Bills be protested, send them in by the first opportunity. We have sent for 300 worth of dry goods and rigging and sails for a Sloop. I desire you would answer my part and send the goods and rigging in as soon as possibly you can, for the sooner the better for our advantage. Send them p. the Elizabeth if possible, and be sure to observe our order for goods must be settled for this season of the year. You may expect to hear from us by all opportunities for anything else offers to you directed to Mr. Brown. I hope Capt. Everes is with you long ere this time, for I understand he sailed out of the West Indies three months ago and coming to very good market there, and I hope the like with you.

The letter has small edge tear at the left edge and is in Fine condition. The Bills of Exchange are both in Very Fine condition.
