Vintage folding loupe by famous Carl Zeiss Jena,
Reference-quality distortion and spherical aberration
free achromat lens with 6x magnification.
Optics: Made in Germany by famous Carl Zeiss Jena factory from 1930s to1950s. Glass lens is 22mm diameter with 6x magnification power. Very durable hard plastic (bakelite type) housing. Lens can be unscrewed for cleaning if needed. Reference-quality optics without distortion, spherical or chromatic aberrations, as a result you... have a bright, clear and sharp image, please see photos with examples. It has a black framing around the lens, because black eliminates reflections that can alter the color of the object you are viewing. This loupe has a very high resolution and large field of view if compared to similar loupes.
This loupes without the circle or 'DDR' in the logo where produced from the late 1930s up to the middle 1950s, you can see them in Zeiss brochure printed in 1954, photos №10-12.
Dimensions: Unfolded length is 78mm (3 1/8").
Condition: Excellent condition, rarely seen. Lens is without any scratches, housing has no damage, hinge has a smooth action with no play.
