Here is a a driver's watch made by Elgin that dates back to the early 1940's. This 14k ROSE gold filled tank watch has hinged lugs so the watch would fit snuggly to the curved side of your wrist. The concept was that the automobile driver could view the dial of the watch while holding the steering wheel tightly. Back in... the day when cars did not have power steering and it took two hands to steer the car. This Lord Elgin hinged lug watch measures 20.7 mm wide not including the crown. The main case measures 27.7 mm long and with the hinged lugs fully extended is 49.1 mm long. Has ribbed top and bottom bezels edges. This watch case is surprisingly clean. Has a very cool Christmas 1942 dedication on the pop-off case back. Shows very minor case wear. The glass crystal is curved and does have a few minor scratches. The SIGNED dial is close to perfect and is copper in color. Has black Roman numeral hour markers with blued stick hands. Sunken seconds register at the 6 o'clock position. The SIGNED movement is a 21 jewel USA made Cal. 559 and was one of Elgin's best movements of this era. Has a serial number E439162 and is running. There is a very cool rose gold filled Speidel scissor style bracelet that matches the color of this Lord Elgin watch so closely it might be original. Great looking rose gold filled 1940's vintage Lord Elgin DP Durapower driver's watch. Running but is sold as-is. I have no service records for this 75+ year old nice Lord Elgin watch.
