Here is an impressive antique American folk art violin. This looks to be very old and I would guess it goes back to the age of American western expansion, inside is very dusty. Instrument is fresh out of an estate collection and has been set up with new strings, tailpiece, bridge and tuners and looks ready to play. The quality of this violin is very good compared to others I have seen like it. They purfling in the back is just scratched in and on the front one line is actual inlay, bot...h are well done and executed with precision. Back measures approx 13 3/4” and bouts are 7 5/8” and 6 1/4”. Really interesting piece of cultural history that I do not find very often these days. The fit and finish on this is impeccable and the person who made it was a talented craftsman. I see no name inside it through the soundholes, but it is dusty. Comes in an old nice quality wood hard case. Very nice example fresh out of an estate of a college professor who had a lifetime collection of violins.
