DELICIEUX ANTIQUE FRENCH CHATEAU TAPESTRY PORTIERE CURTAIN PANEL c1850
This is a beautiful antique French chateau tapestry portiere drape panel from the mid 1800s. Perfect for any period maison to be hung just as it is for a huge window or door drape, it could be used as a wall decor or any other period projects. The weave is a weighty wool, linen and gold wire thread. Hopefully I have managed to capture some of the muted gold wire threa...d weave. The colours are all still strong and the design is an amazing array of acanthus leaf scrolls, flower motifs, Fleur de Lis and swags. There is just one very pale line of fading as the photographs show but it does not detract at all. The top is pleated from when it was hung with curtain rings. Length 2 metres 70cms Width 120cms A fabulous and genuine period chateau confection full of faded grandeur. All the items in my listings, unless described otherwise, are either vintage or antique. They have all had a 'past' life, a history to tell - and this inevitably affects their condition through use and handling. I do my best to make my descriptions as accurate as possible but please do not bid if you are looking for pristine items; you will not find them in my auctions!
