MOTOMAG 2 II Alloy Mag Wheel Set - Mongoose - Vintage Old School BMX
Item History & Price
Up for auction is a pair of Alloy Motomag II wheels. Please read the full description of the condition of the wheels and zoom in on all of the photos for details of any damage.
Both wheels appear to have been spray painted silver over the aluminum finish a long time ago. The paint and finish is not even and they should probably be stripped and polished or re-painted.
Front Wheel:Spins pretty smooth but axle has a very slight bend. Axle is quite long and axle nuts not includedTher...e are 3 faint hairline cracks in different spots of the webbing between the large 5 spokes.
Rear Wheel:There are at least 6 cracks in the webbing between the large 5 spokes. (See grouping of 4 photos for a few of the details) There aren't any missing pieces of webbing, but some feel a bit fragile and could be broken without much force. They could probably be repaired with grinding and bondo or tack welded or similar for cosmetic purposes if you planned to paint them.
The coaster brake was modified at some point with some type of homemade plastic freecoaster spacer and it doesn't include brake pads. The fixed side of the hub bearing race is very pitted and needs replacing. Both sets of outer bearings are missing and not included (smaller cog driver bearings are intact)The races on the actual wheel itself look fine.Check out the detail photo of the hub parts. The wheel will be mailed as seen in the photos with the guts removed from the wheel.I can't tell if the axle is bent or not and it doesn't include axle nuts. You will need additional parts to get the hub running again.
I think these could be nicely restored with some effort, but due to the nature of the damage I'm selling them as a pair with a low starting bid.
I've already boxed them and they are padded well for shipping. Check the shipping options and price for your zip code because it's a pretty heavy box.
Please ask any questions before bidding! All sales are final. No returns accepted. Payment is due within 48 hours.
