Offered for sale is an Altec 710A stereo receiver. It's the middle of the line receiver that consists of the 704A, 710A and the 714A. The walnut grained metal cabinet is underneath the wooden cabinet. Weighs a hefty 30.6 lbs. No toggle switches, has pushbutton switches for Phono, FM, AM, Aux, Tape monitor, Muting, Mono and Loudness. Has back pan...el switches for local and distant FM and high and low sensitivity. Black out front tuning dial. A real classy looking receiver. The owners manual is available on HiFi Engine at no cost. The service manual can be purchased on www dot stereomanuals dot com for a shipped cost of $13. When I first acquired it the only thing wrong with it was the tuning needle was slightly off the station frequency. Adjusted that and now it's dead on. Cleaned all the controls with deoxit and now they all work smoothly and quietly. All the lights are working and they are nice and bright. Removed the bottom cover and cleaned the top of it. Dusted out the insides with an air compressor, the insides are now nice and clean, practically looks new (see picture # 11). The front face is perfect with no marks, scratches or worn lettering. The only thing that kept me from describing this receiver as mint is there is a small scratch on the top of the cabinet on the right side (barely noticeable in picture # 5). Thoroughly tested it and everything is working as designed. FM tunes and plays perfectly. AM works OK but like most receivers I test isn't great. All the inputs work. Records sound fantastic and play with no hum or distortion. I had this receiver apart and have been playing it for a couple of days and I am really impressed with the high build quality as well as the tube like sound. I haven't seen a nicer one of these models on eBay in the last four years. This is a very rare receiver that has become very collectable. Very seldom do you see one on eBay. There is one, however, currently listed on eBay. The asking shipped price is $528. It's described as tested and working and appears to be in nice condition but definitely not as nice as mine. The title says it has a wood case but from the pictures there is no wooden case, just the walnut grained meatal cabinet. My reasonable BIN offering is almost 40% less plus it comes with a wooden cabinet that's probably worth close to $100 alone. If you were looking for one of these rare models, which one would you rather buy? I normally don't allow returns after 14 days from delivery but I am so confident in the condition of this receiver I am offering a 30 day no questions asked return period (including return shipping!). That's as good as getting a 30 day warranty absolutely free. I pack very well and just a couple of the over 1000 items I have sold were damaged during shipping but if your receiver arrives damaged simply return it for a full refund and I'll deal with the insurance claim.
