ant5767. This is a carved wood block used in the process of creating a wood cut artwork. The resulting image appears to be an illustration common in style to the images used in books, newspapers and magazines of the late 1800's.
Outraged man is sitting on floor with outstretched legs. Looks like he fell off the stools at his sides. One stool says, State Education and the other says, Voluntary Education.
Heavy wood block, 7 1/2" x 6 1.../2" It is formed with 4 tightly held squares. On the back, tight screws are visible, holding it all together well. Very Good condition.
