When you open the top, the bottom drawer pops out. When you close the top, the bottom drawer comes back in.
When the box is closed, it measures 12 1/2” across the front, 8 1/8” tall, and 4 1/2” front to back
When the box is open, it measures 11 3/4” tall, 12 1/2” across the front, and front to back 11 3/8”
