INTERESTING ANTIQUE FRENCH TAPESTRY PANEL HORSES DOGS FALCON c1900
This machine loomed tapestry dates from around 1900 and has lots of movement and little vignettes of interest including a young servant boy attempting to control a fiesty black horse, a lady on horseback approaching a seated man with falcon on his arm, perhaps having his boots readjusted by another young servant boy and a huntsman with hunting horn and two dogs, all in a woodland glade setting with gr...and houses in the background.
The tapestry has a slim fringed edging which has become a little unravelled in the top left hand corner and a small black circular mark at the bottom right handside, but overall is in very good condition for its age. The colours are a little mooted but this adds to the character and charm of the piece.
It has at some time been attached to a backing of some kind as it has signs of tack marks around the edges.
