Shimano Dura - Ace Rear Derailleur | RD - 7200 EX | 6 - Speed | 197g | Vintage |
Item History & Price
Ridden for a few months in '81. Opted for some Bulls-Eye sealed bearing pulleys which I'd moved from a different bike. The Dura-Ace derailleur is in very-good condition. The Bulls-Eye pulleys show signs of wear. The Link Lock Bicycle Chain is NEW.
This derailleur is the only one I'm aware of with a quick-release method to remove the chain without having to remove the pulleys (see the 2nd &am...p; 3rd photos). Handy when cleaning. It's designed to work w/ the Shimano Link Lock Bicycle Chain (see the 6th & 7th photos). (I never installed the Link Lock & can't speak to it's effectiveness.) The Shimano 7200 Ex derailleur was designed to work with their new cassette freewheel sprocket system. It did work well on the Shimano 6-speed 7200 Ex hubs. The 7200 EX sprocket set is significantly narrower than the contemporary 6-speed freewheels -- as narrow as the normal 5-speed freewheels. Hence, this derailleur worked equally well with 5-speed non-cassette freewheels.
Has been in storage since '81. Moving in a few months. Time to empty some boxes.
