Vintage Ice Axe Wooden Handle Stubai

This is a vintage ice axe with wooden handle and steel axe and pick. It includes a wrist loop attached by ring to the shaft and there is a bump stop on the handle to keep the loop from sliding off.
The axe is 35 1/2" tall. The pick extends 6 1/2 inch from the shaft and the axe extends 4 1/2". Its weight is 1.8 pounds.
Stamped in the metal axe is "Stubai" and "Made in Austria".
This is a vintage item that was once used on glacier surveys in the High Sierra of Yosemite Nat...ional Park and is still functional for doing the same so long as the dwindling ice masses last now that they are waning greatly. For more extreme use such as ice climbing, modern axes would be more useful.
As a nostalgic item this would fit well in an exhibit of mountaineering tools for a sporting goods store, museum, or as part of one's home wall décor.
