Welcome, this auction is for an ORIGINAL vintage Southern Railroad uniform dress suit coat / jacket.
This jacket is black and has no lining. On the left sleeve near bottom are patches, one gold 5 point star and 3 gold horizontal bars. There are 8 deep pockets (4 interior breast pockets, 4 exterior pockets). There are 4 larger gold tone buttons held in place with cotter-tail pins to button the jacket over the chest and 4 smaller sim...ilar buttons at the cuffs, all are embossed with “Southern”. At the lapel are two gold tone and blue medallions that read “SR”.Measurements for this jacket are: overarm 29”, chest circumference 42”, insleeve 18”, shoulder seem to shoulder seem 17”, shoulder seam to lowest hem of sleeve at outside edge 25”, midpoint of shoulder straight line to bottom hem 30”, bottom circumference near at natural hip 46”.The jacket is believed to be a wool blend, and must be made in USA as the labels read: Pettibone “Uniform Tailors” Bros. Manufacturing Co., Cincinnati, OH.This jacket is in good condition but does show some wear. In particular, one underarm shows some salty sweat stain but it does not appear to go through the fabric - not visible on the exterior of the jacket. Please see photographs.Included in this auction is a men’s black vest by Stafford, Size Large, Made in Mexico. It has two shallow pockets, v darts at bottom, and has an adjustment belt & buckle on the back. It is not original but came with this jacket and works as a set.
