Awards include a bronzemedal from the French government for his pencil drawing in the ParisExposition, 1937; the Habersham prize, 1939, from the Southern Print Makers;and the 1953 Henry B. Shope Prize given in New York by the Society of... AmericanEtchers. Mr. Swann passed in 1985 at 79yrs.Theoriginal owner bought these direct from Mr. Swann out of his studio in LincolnPark Chicago. Theoriginal studio labels are intact on the back of both etchings as in pic #8.These are a vintage items so consistent with their age there is slight colorchange and wear to the mats. No foxing, though there is a very slightrust-colored scuff to the right of the Wrigley tower top. Rather thansigned-in-plate like many etchings are, these are hand signed & titled inpencil by Mr. Swann at the bottom.Theseare the original mats and the very edges of the mats have some surfacescratches, though these would be hidden once in the frame if you choose to keepthem as-is. Last photo shows one of them popped into a store bought ready-made8x10 frame as reference [frame not included]. You could always re-mat &frame to your liking. Or as Antiques Roadshow always lets us know, you can havethem professionally cleaned to add to their look (+ value).
