This listing is for an E-MU XROM (5-Bank version of Xtreme Lead ROM) Expansion Sound ROM Board (ROM Card).
To use THIS ROM, you must have an E-mu "Proteus-2000-Family" synthesizer/keyboard/command station; AND IN ADDITION
your "Proteus-2000-Family" synthesizer MUST have an OPEN/EMPTY SLOT to accept this ROM.
IMPORTANT: This ROM requires a "new-enough" OS Version if installing into a "Proteus-2000-Family" rack-mount synth module such as
Proteus 2000, Proteus 1000, Xtreme Lead 1, Mo'Phatt, B-3, Orbit 3, Virtuoso, Vintage Pro, or Planet Earth.
This ROM works in ALL "Proteus-2000-Family" command stations (XL-7, MP-7, PX-7, and Proteus 2500), and
this ROM works in ALL "Proteus-2000-Family" keyboards (PK-6, XK-6, MK-6, Halo, and Vintage Keys) regardless of OS version.
Put another way, the Operating System (OS) version of your 1-unit rack-mount synthesizer DOES matter,
but the OS version of your Command Station or Keyboard should not matter for this particular ROM.
(This ROM is NOT compatible with Audity 2000, Proteus 1, Proteus 2, Proteus 3, Proteus FX, Ultra Proteus, Morpheus, Orbit/Orbit v2, Planet Phatt, Carnival, Vintage Keys, or Classic Keys!)
You can see the Operating System (OS) Version of your E-mu Synthezier when you first turn it on--
the OS Version should be briefly displayed within the first few seconds of boot-up.
What version is the OS in YOUR E-mu Rack-mount Synth?
Important Note: Many Sellers call their ROMs XROMs, even though they are plain XLEAD ROMs!
Make sure your XROM has "dash 18" ("xxxxx-18" ) as the E-mu part number!
If it isn't a TRUE XROM, then it will only have 4 banks of Presets (instead of the 5 of a Real XROM).
I TEST E-MU Expansion Boards (ROM Cards) in my Proteus 2000 (with OS version 2.26--the latest).
I have over 2 decades of experience, so STATIC-SAFETY Measures are followed!
Sometimes you can find a seller who is selling what seems to be the same exact thing as me, and he might sell it for a few dollars less.

- a seller who PERSONALLY TESTS EACH ROM?
- a seller who TESTs with his EARS, AND uses E-mu DIAGNOSTIC TESTS to confirm YOUR ROM works perfectly?
- a seller who has 20 YEARS of SYNTHESIZER EXPERIENCE (and 20 YEARS computer EXPERIENCE--think "static-safe procedures")?
- a seller who has 20 YEARS OF E-MU EXPERIENCE?
- a seller who's been selling similar items on eBay for over 15 years?
- a seller who has a 4.9+ (out of 5.0) DSR for "ITEM AS DESCRIBED, " which is a testament to honesty and competency?
- a seller who has 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK?
- a seller who has Many POSITIVE FEEDBACKS in his feedback profile for the EXACT SAME ITEM?
- a seller who puts all sensitive electronics in anti-static wrap? Look at the photos--is their ROM laying on anti-static material?
- a seller who Ships in a BOX? Amazingly, some sellers ship sensitive electronics in an envelope. I use BOXES, and I often DOUBLE BOX!
- a seller who PAYS for INSURANCE when he ships the ROM to you? I will INSURE this ROM when I ship it!
Many people only consider the DOLLAR PRICE, and try to save a few bucks whenever they can, regardless of quality and the "true cost."
However, some people think the extra time, thought, work...and love that I put into each item is worth something,
and if you value care, quality, and low-risk more than "cheap", then you're the kind of person I'd really like to do business with!
