At auction is an Olympus Pen-FT single-lens-reflex (SLR) camera made by Olympus of Japan between 1966 and 1972. The camera accepts Olympus Pen F/Pen-FT/Pen-FV mount lenses. The camera uses 35mm film in standard cassettes to produce 18x24 negatives. It is a half-frame camera and, as such, it will produce twice as many negative on a roll of 35mm film. To the best of my knowledge, Olympus was the only producer of half-frame SLR cameras with interchangeable lenses.&...nbsp; The lens that comes with this camera is a multi-coated Olympus F.Zuiko 38mm f/1.8 Auto-S with a design of 6 elements in 5 groups. The lens has no scratches, fungus or haze. The 5 diaphragm blades. There is a tiny trace of oil on two of the blades but they function perfectly and smoothly. The aperture control ring moves smoothly and easily with distinct click stops at the marked apertures. The focus ring also moves smoothly and easily. The camera has a metal-foil foil, rotary travel, focal plane shutter with speeds B, 1 - 1/500. It is a fully mechanical shutter. All speeds work well and sound about right to the ear. The viewfinder is clean and clear. The camera has a built-in light meter. The meter works well and responds to changes in light. The meter is displayed in the viewfinder. However, the light meter has not been tested by a camera technician for accuracy. The meter is powered by a single 625A battery that is installed in the battery chamber in the base plate. The camera will come with a battery installed. The camera and lens are in mint- cosmetic condition with the only significant flaw being the viewfinder eyepiece frame that has a tiny chip on the upper left corner. The chipped eyepiece frame is very common on the Olympus Pen F series cameras due to the design of their optional, clip-on accessory shoe that would be attached to the eyepiece frame. After a few mountings and removals of the accessory shoe, it would cause the frame to chip. All camera and lens functions work well. The camera will come with The original Olympus lens cap, and the original Olympus camera case, and the original instruction manual. This camera is fully usable. The camera would also please the collector, due to its fine cosmetic condition and its rarity.
