Vintage 1960 Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone Lacquer 5 - Digit
Item History & Price
JunkDude Music is offering this Vintage Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone. Serial number 90379 dates this saxophone to 1960. Overall, very nice condition. From the estate of a long-time saxophone professor at THE Ohio State University. This was his primary alto and was always maintained. Overall, it is in excellent condition. Original lacquer is around 85%. There are no repairs and no dings. There is evidence of removal of a very minor ding i...n the bow and maybe removal of a minor ding or crease on the bell rim. The pads with plastic dome resonators are in very good condition and this saxophone is in excellent playing condition. The neck has a matching serial number. The background of the S logo on the neck is red which really didn't make any sense to me until I remembered who owned the horn. This horn was owned and played by the sax professor at OSU during the last years of Woody Hayes. There's no way that splash of blue (representing "the team up north") was going to be accepted at OSU, so it was covered by a splash of scarlet...this is just my guess, but I suspect that is why it was done. The case is a Selmer Vanguard replacement case with vinyl cover and interior case for flute and clarinet. The case is in excellent near new condition with keys.
