Up for sale is an IBM PS/2 Model 90 XP 486. This unit has been professionally restored and upgraded to function excellently. For those of you who don't know, the Model 90 was one of the last and fastest computers available in IBM's Personal System/2 lineup. It featured full support for Intel's 486 Processors. The PS/2 Model 90 differs from other members in the PS/2 line, being the only model alongside the 95 with the ability to completely upgrade the processor, DMA controller, I/O... controller, and cache by replacing the processor complex. This allows for massive increases in performance. The computer features one of the fastest 486 processor complexes available, the 50MHz Pentium Type 3 "M" Complex, making this one of the fastest PS/2 models available. This complex has the fastest front side bus of any other 486 complex, making transfers between the CPU and memory faster. It also features 256KB of L2 cache, which improves performance. Installed in the computer is 16 of 70ns high speed memory, plenty enough for any programs this computer might run. Also installed is a SCSI-2 F/W hard disk controller, the faster controller available for the PS/2 Microchannel architecture. Accompanying the hard disk controller is an 545MB Seagate SCSI-2 HDD. Also included is an SMC ethernet card. All features of this computer, including the floppy drive, have been tested to function properly.
