MCINTOSH C-32 PRE/AMP ( NEVER USED ).
The NOS C32 was inspected by Audio Classics and brought up slowly with a variac FOR 1-HOUR TO CHECK THE SPECS FROM THE MCINTOSH FACTORY. Steve (the owner) installed a new glass panel very carefully using rubber gloves while I watched. It was then put back in the original packaging and triple boxed. FAQ: "Just curious why did it need a new glass if it’s NOS?"
A: The problem was/is with the adhesive used on the foam liner and tape to install the glass. It actually seeps and delaminates the glass backing and causes the "bubbling" often seen on McIntosh gear. It has been corrected on newer gear and with a new glass faceplate.
