Original Description:
OK folks, what we have here is a somewhat late-model Amiga 1000. And it has something rather special inside it.
First off if you look at the serial number (XM1114501), as well as the date stamped on the PSU, this is likely a mid-to-late 1986 NTSC model.
If you pop open the case, inside is a rare and highly coveted vintage upgrade board called the DKB Insider II board. This board back in the day - and even today - is pretty bad ass. It upgrades a stock Amiga 1000 to be... beyond an original stock Amiga 500/2000 in terms of fast RAM and functionality. These upgrades were sold in the US between 1989-1992.
First, it provides a Kickstart 1.3 ROM. This means no more Kickstart disk, and no more waiting for that floppy to load. Flick the power, wait about 3-4 seconds, then boom! There's the Workbench request screen.
Second, it has on-board 1MB of RAM (not chip RAM, but 'fast' RAM). It's technically expandable to 1.5.
Third, it has a battery backed up RTC (real-time clock). I did not test this, and bidders should presume it doesn't work.
What about the Amiga 1000?
This is a stock NTSC Amiga 1000, and has the front expansion of 256KB filled. So the machine as a whole is a rockin' .5MB chip with 1MB fast + KS ROM. It's really pretty sweet. Here's a power-on demo:https://youtu.be/_N9eT7qsbek(you will have to copy/paste that into a browser because apparently Ebay is lame about links)
Floppy drive works great. (Use those floppies!) I've had no mechanical issues with this machine.
There is some minor case discoloration on the front, and what appears to be a small burn mark above the floppy drive area on the case.
Please see the photos to gauge the overall condition and zoom in and pan around. Ask me if you have any questions.
Known Issues:
KeyboardThe Return key is sticky and needs cleaning/repair of some kind (all other keys are excellent)On the front-left corner of the keyboard is a small hairline crack. A friend of mine was going to put a drop of acetone on it from the inside of the case to solidify it, but we weren't able to meet up. I recommend whoever buys this machine to perform a similar fix to repair that corner. Visually you can barely see it. There are some nicks and dings. The coloration (IMO) is excellent and the keycaps are immaculate.  A1000There is some minor discoloration on the front and a tiny bit on the side corners. I tried to capture it in the photos above. It is minor but because the front RAM expansion panel is nearly new looking color-wise, it's much more noticeable. You can also see it around the mouse port. A couple of the case screws are missing. The rubber feet on the bottom of the case are missing. It does not have the side-panel expansion port cover. When the previous owner installed the DKB Insider II, it looks like some leads from the board were soldered to the daughterboard which was common for this (reversible)Overall the case and motherboard are in very good condition along with the issues mentioned above. The black bar seen on the monitor is due to my camera not being able to easily photograph a CRT screen. There's nothing wrong with the video output.
SHIPPING TO CONTINENTAL US ONLY.
Monitor/Mouse NOT included in photos. No Workbench or SysInfo disk(s) are included.
Sold as-is, no returns. If you receive a machine that doesn't power on, it's likely the DKB Insider II jiggled loose in transport (which holds the 68000 CPU, too) and needs to be reseated. Pop the case, then the shielding, and gently and firmly press the DKB Insider straight down. If it feels firm, try again. Should be good to go!
