Up for sale is a MyTec Electronics Firedrive 2K 3.5" floppy drive for use with Commodore 64/128 computers. This disk drive is a hardware clone of the CMD FD-2000 floppy drives and functions 100% the same. If you aren't familiar with the FD-2000, think of it like a Commodore 1581 with the ability to format and use high density 1.44MB disks for twice the space than the old 800K double density disks. It also has some impressive extra features such as partitions, 1541 and 1581 emulation mo...des and more.
Formatted capacity on a C64 is 1.6 megabytes or 6336 blocks free.
I originally purchased this drive in March of 2018 and have used it sparingly since. I'd estimate the drive has maybe 15-20 hours of usage on it since new. I'd like to pass it on to someone who could get more use out of it than myself. Cosmetically the drive is mint condition, and looks just like the day I bought it.
Included in this sale is the drive itself of course, the original power supply, the original IEC serial cable, and the original utilities disk. Also included is a box of high density floppies to get you started.
