Up for auction is a working and rare 1950's Ampex... model 402 Stereo tube hifi preamplifier.
Ampex made some very high quality home stereo equipment in the 1950's. Same quality as their commercial products of the time. These are very hard to find!
Mechanically the preamp works well with no hum or any issues. All settings and channels are working . The pots were cleaned and everything checked over. Its in great working order and sounds great! The preamp is in original condition with the exception of an added on/off switch on the side and the bass pot is a replacement.
Cosmetically the preamp is in very clean condition. It looks great!Preamp comes with two original Ampex cables for proper hookup.
Pair this up with a pair of Ampex power amps for that authentic vintage Ampex tone!
