ABOUT:I am one of those annoying people that like to celebrate Christmas year round and as you can see from my store, Holly and Mistletoe pieces are some of my favorites! I am selling a collection of solid silver Danish mistletoe flatware in this pattern as well as some French holly and mistletoe items so please see my other listings.VERY LARGE and Fantastic Arts and Crafts style large serving spoon by Fritz S. Heimburger of Copenhagen, Denmark with large scale designed mist...letoe handle and beautifully hammered bowl. I acquired this as part of a set from a shop in Denmark. Production date on the hallmark is not legible but estimated between 1918 to 1923. The other pieces in the set are all dated by the hallmark 1920-1924.It has the three tower mark for the sterling silver standard in Denmark indicating at least .826 solid silver. It also has the assay master mark for Christian F. Heise who was the assay master from 1904-1932.I absolutely love the figural mistletoe design. Very eye catching and could work with a mid-century or modern table as well. NO MONOGRAMS on it.MEASUREMENTS:The piece is substantial. It measures 11 inches in length and the widest part of the handle is about 1 1/2 inch wide. The spoon bowl is about 3 3/8 inches wide. It weighs 141 grams. MARKS:Punched four times, with the tower mark for the silver, Heimburger mark for the maker and CFH for the assay master and has the Heimburger maker's hallmark in addition to the text.IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:Please note that all my pieces are in estate condition. I see some utensil scratches - in the spoon bowl and on the handle, and also on the smooth back of the handle. Along with surface wear and scratches from use and polish over the years. A few utensil nicks to the mistletoe leaves. A few stubborn tarnish spots. Nice patina to make the raised mistletoe designs stand out. No deep pin dings or bends. It is still perfectly straight. The wear is not super distracting but is more noticeable in the smooth areas due to the mirrored finish. But Please note this piece is not in mint condition. Has been lightly hand polished and could have some tarnish removed further, but I like to leave patina so the high relief designs really stand out so I will leave the rest to the buyer. I have many more pieces of sterling listed so please see my other auctions and create a set!SHIPPING:I ship internationally using the Global Shipping Program and due to the high cost of shipping, I don't allow returns so please see photos and condition notes closely!I dearly love, collect, use and sell antique American sterling silver flatware and housewares including Tiffany and Co., Gorham, Durgin, Shiebler and more! I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my new store. Thanks for stopping by!Georg Jensen, “the father of Scandinavian Silver, ” on the occasion of his 60th birthday remarked, “Silver is the best material we have. The character of silver is satisfactorily obstinate, it has to be conquered – and then it has the wonderful moonlight luster. [It] can seem like twilight, or, when it dews over, like ground mist rising.” I COULDN'T AGREE MORE : )
