Two Olympus XA2 35mm Cameras With One A11 Flash OR Stereo 3D Conversion

I bought this quite a few years ago when I was interested in all things stereoscopic
It's a marriage of two Olympus XA2 point and shoot cameras which have an excellent reputation for the quality of the pictures they produce. Obviously done by someone who knew what they were about there is a connection between the two cameras which has wired the shutters to trip simultaneously by pressing just the one shutter button.
The cameras are mounted on a custom-made plate and in land...scape mode gives a lens centre separation of about 110mm which produces a hyperstereo effect when a print from each camera is mounted side by side and viewed through a stereoscope.
If desired I shouldn't think it would be too difficult to mount them base-to-base giving a 'standard' stereo separation of 65mm in portrait mode. Compared to what must have been a delicate electronic job to connect the cameras the mounting plate set-up lacks a bit in refinement and I'd always intended to make a more professional job of this part of the rig and add a tripod mount at the same time. But time passes...
The A11 flash unit is connected to one camera and, when flash mode selected and the flashgun charged, is also operated by the single shutter button. Fully working (photo 7).
Everything works and scans of parts of two film strip I took for this listing are shown in the photos. Picture 8 just shows comparable strips from each camera; picture 9 is intended to show, by capturing the swinging bottle at the same point in its swing, that the shutters fire in sync. It also shows the potential stereo effect of combining the two pictures as the slight difference in perspective shows along the left and right edges.
A wrist-strap is present but a manual is only available as a PDF which I'll email to the buyer if requested.
The electrical connection between the cameras is made separable by a small jack so if stereo is of no interest you can separate the cameras and you have two individual XA2s, one with a flash - both will operate individually as they should. The starting price reflects this as two individual cameras.
