SCSI Card to MOLEX Power Cable Tandy DOS 3.30.01 Installed and Configured DOS Menu System Installed and Configured Lots of Software Pre-Installed Here is something I hav...e not seen on eBay and probably never will again ... a Tandy 1000 HX SCSI hard drive setup. I installed this setup in my HX back in the late 90's. I would fire the computer up every now and then when I needed to get my Tandy 8-bit gaming fix. Lately though the wife has been looking at me kind of funny when I play Leisure Suit Larry so I figured it's time to sell off the hard drive setup to someone else. I want to keep my HX system so only the drive setup is up for auction.
The drive is very quite and has never given me any issues. There are no bad sectors to be found. Tandy DOS 3.3 supports up to 32MB hard drive partitions so the drive is partitioned with 32MB C: and 8MB D: partitions (see pictures).
The SCSI card contains the power connector for the hard drive. The included power cable connects to the SCSI card and then to the hard drive through a standard MOLEX power connector. There will be no need to hack your computer's power supply to add a MOLEX connector as I've seen required with other HDD kits out there.
The Seagate BIOS more than likely has a 504MB hard drive size limit (I'm not exactly sure) so if you decide to use a larger hard drive keep this in mind. You'll also need to install DOS 5.0 or later if you want to make partitions larger than 32MB. (DON'T use DOS version 4 ! It's known to corrupt the BIOS on Tandy 1000 HX systems)
The drive will be packaged extremely well for shipment. It will arrive to you in working condition.
PLEASE NOTE: This setup will more than likely work in a Tandy 1000 EX system as well. However, since the EX only has one drive bay you'll need to get a 5.25" to 3.5" bay converter to mount the hard drive and use an external floppy drive. I'm not 100% sure if the Tandy 1000 EX will fully support this setup. . . The drive has Tandy DOS version 3.30.01 pre-loaded along with many software packages. . . You will need to open your Tandy 1000 HX to install this setup. If you are even the slightest bit nervous about doing that seek out someone that can help you.
