Vintage Epson HX - 20 - 1st Laptop - Looks Great And

The HX-20, from Epson was the first commercial laptop. It gave way to Radio Shack's Model 100, but it had many advantages over the 100: the HX-20 included 32K of RAM, a printer and a built-in tape drive.
This particular computer was a part of a computer museum. I received the computer when the museum folded, and have had it for a few years (I could not let it go when I donated most of the other museum pieces to another museum.) Unfortunately, after five years of un- and under-em...ployment, I need to let go of some of my prizes.
This HX-20 comes as originally outfitted, with BASIC in ROM, but there is another ROM socket on-board for another option ROM. I will ship this in the same box in which the original owner (the owner of the old computer museum (David - his name and address have been blacked out) received it from the Computer Mall, in 2000. I will leave the original shipping label (minus David's name and address) intact, and will put the new shipping label over the original.
I plugged the HX-20 in, and got the startup beep. Seconds later it gave the menu on the display, after adjusting the contrast. After this, I went into the memory initialization routine (press Ctrl-@) and entered the date (this is not Y2K compliant.) After this, the menu came up clean (prior to that there was a junk file, from the old age.) I did not test it any further. As you can see, visually it appears to be in great working shape. I only have one power supply for this computer, and am keeping it for mine.
Due to the age of this computer this is being sold as-is, and has not been tested beyond what I described and what you can see in the pictures.
There are many documents for this computer on the internet, which may be freely downloaded. Do a Google search for "Epson HX-20 manuals". Sorry, but due to jerks who commit fraud, and try to cause trouble, E-Bay no longer allows me to post links to the documents. These manuals, I've found, include the Operations Manual, the BASIC Reference and the Technical manual.
