Original Description:
This vintage 1996 Apple PowerBook 1400cs/117 is in fantastic condition and actually works!I did not erase the Hard Drive because I do not have a floppy installation disk and the unit does not have a CD ROM drive. As you can see from the pictures there is a password required to get into it which I do not know. I went ahead and left the hard drive in. I do not know what version OS is installed on it. Obviously if you want to actually use the computer you would need the original... installation media to erase the hard drive and reinstall the OS, or perhaps there's some way to clear the password. I looked but couldn't find a way. The hard drive is a 1GB IBM with an Apple logo and it has a 4MB RAM card installed with an empty slot for adding more RAM.Includes 2 Type II PC cards. See pictures for details. Includes the clear plastic cover with 2 insert cardsCosmetically it's in fantastic condition! Very clean and absolutely gorgeous! No cracks or damage anywhere!
The battery takes a charge but has not been tested to see how long it lasts.
Obviously most buyers will be interested in it simply as a collector or as a connoisseur of Apple products, and the fact that it actually works is just a bonus. Buyer is expected to be fully aware of the age and limitations of this item. This item does not have a CD ROM. Listing does not include charger. Please look close at pictures for details of cosmetic condition and feel free to ask any questions. I generally respond to questions right away or within the hour.
Original Specifications:
The Apple Macintosh PowerBook 1400c/117 features a 117 MHz PowerPC 603e processor, 16 MB of RAM, and a 750 MB or 1.0 GB hard drive in a black portable case with a 11.3" color active-matrix display.

The PowerBook 1400c/117 built-in display supports 16-bit color and the computer also can support up-to 8-bit color on an external monitor with an optional video card.

The PowerBook 1400c/117 is similar to the PowerBook 1400cs/117, but the cs has a lower quality dual-scan display.
The PowerBook 1400 series was the first PowerBook line to introduce an internal CD-ROM drive, "stackable" memory modules, and "BookCovers" to customize the look of each PowerBook.
