Vintage Paradise AutoSwitch EGA Card For 8 - Bit PC/XT/AT/compatible Systems
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:7147570 |
For sale is a Paradise AutoSwitch EGA card for 8-bit PC/XT/AT/compatible systems. This card is clean and has been tested on an EGA monitor. The main chip is "PEGA1A". The maximum resolution is 720x348 for monochrome and 640x 350 for EGA.
In my testings of this card, the pixels were tight, but this also depends on the dot pitch of the monitor. The EGA monitor I used for testing has a good dot pitch. (I have seen some early VGA monitors that had worse dot pit...ches than some good quality EGAs.)
This card has 256kb of video memory and can display on monochrome, RGB/CGA, and EGA monitors, with a DB9 and two RCA jacks for video output. This card also has a header for a feature connector, as well as a header for a light pen.
When an EGA card is used in text-only mode, there are utilities that can use the unused video memory as a ramdisk. There are also utilities that can merge the unused A000-AFFF range, or also possibly B000-B7FF, with regular DOS, by using video memory, gaining 64k-96k more of DOS memory. Of course, these two extra uses of video memory cannot be used at the same time.
This card is being offered in "as is" condition.
Please email me for any other questions or considerations. Thank you.
