Offered here is a beautiful, full function JVC L-F66 Automatic Direct Drive Hi Fidelity Turntable. It is complete with a rare Acutex 207 Magnetic Phono Cartridge with an excellent stylus. It is functionally and cosmetically pristine with the only minor issue being one of the dust covers hinges is defective (spring loaded part is broken on one side) and the dustcover will not hold position in the upright position. The dust cover itself is pristine so replacing one hinge will fix it.... This is a true High Fidelity machine equipped with a direct drive motor so there is never a belt to change. It features a dynamically balanced S-Shaped tonearm that will accomodate virtually any standard 1/2" mount phono cartridge. That said, the Acutex 207 cartridge mounted is in near new condition so it will be a long time before the cartridge (or stylus) will need to be replaced. The tonearm system also includes an anti-skate device that allows for compensation counteracting the natural tendency for the tonearm to be pulled toward the center spindle. The platter features an Illuminated Stroboscope that allows for perfect speed settings on both 33.3 and 45 RPM's. Setting adjustments on the tonearm:Well, it is pretty simple. First, set the anti-skate knob to -0- (it is the little numbered wheel to the right of the tonearm pivot point). Next, turn the large counterweight at the back of the tonarm until the tonearm balances and stays level. There should be no pressure at the stylus tip, it will just "float" with the tonearm level. Now, without moving the counterweight, turn only the numbered ring on the counterweight to center at -0- (the numbered ring will turn without turning the weight). The tonearm should still be balanced and floating now leveled and at -0-. So now, balance equals -0- and level is properly calibrated, it is time to turn the whole weight and the numbered ring will move also. Move it to about the 1 1/2 to 2 gram mark. That is how much weight is now at the stylus tip. Lastly, move the anti-skate to correspond to the weight that you put on the stylus. If you set the weight to 2 grams, move the anti-skate setting to 2 as well.That will do it. Thanks for the business and enjoy.
