An early and large antique brass railroad steam whistle. This one measures 4-1/2" in diameter x 15-1/4" from top to bottom. Early 3 chime whistle is marked as made by: Star Brass Co. of Boston Mass. Makers mark is there but difficult to read and partially hidden by old grime and tool marks. I provided a close up photo of where the makers mark is stamped into the brass. Has an unusual acorn looking finial that looks really cool. What you see is what you get as found and all original. Co...ndition is very good with a nice old patina from age and use. I have not cleaned this in any way and chose to leave it in it's original state. Shows some light scatterd wear and tool marks from being installed and taken off the train.
