              Please check out my 100% Positivefeedback and bid with complete confidence. (And please check out the other beautiful pots that I have oneBay.)               You arebidding on two demitasse cups by the late widely collected Maine potter Denis Vibert.              DESCRIPTION:   These lovely tapered cups weremasterfully thrown with nicely ac...cented bases and well-placed loophandles.  The upper wider portions of thecups (and the interiors) have a warm gray glaze with opalescent whitehighlights.  The white glaze forms aborder with well controlled drips and volcanic bubbles that provides an artfulcontrast to the unglazed reddish brown clay body that informs the bottomportions.                Thesevery special vintage cups stand 3” tall and measure 3 ¼” in diameter at their rims.  They are in mint condition- no chips, cracksor repairs- and each has the potter’s personal imprint on its bottom.                        This is a no reserve auction.              ABOUT DENIS VIBERT:   Denis Vibert was born Jan. 19, 1919, on the Isle of Jersey (UK) off thecoast of France, the third son of Thomas and Florence Vibert. He was educatedat the H.M.S. Worcester Thames Nautical Training College and London University.During World War II, he was the only person to have successfully escaped fromthe German occupied Channel Island to England. His daring four-day ordeal in arow boat ended when he was picked up by a British destroyer off Portland Bill.He then joined the Royal Air Force, serving as a bomber pilot flyingWellingtons as part of the Atlantic Coastal Command. He met and married hisbeloved wife, Ruth (Meynell) in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island in 1943.After the war, he studied at the Quebec Provincial School of Design, and laterbought a home in Sullivan where they have had a studio workshop since the1950s.
