Up for auction is a very nice Cinelli Centurion road bike. The Centurion Bicycle Company contracted with Cinelli to co-brand these bicycles with Cinelli providing the frame sets and Centurion the finished bikes out of their facility in Canoga Park, CA. This arrangement was only for the 1984/1985 model year, which dates this bike to that time frame.
I've owned the bike for 30 years, having purchased it in the late 1980's from the original owner. The... original owner recalls that he bought the frame and fork new from Newbury Park Bike Shop in Southern California and built the bike up with mostly Shimano components (see below for complete list of components).
This was my go to road bike for over 15 years, up until I purchased a carbon framed bike. The only changes made to the bike in the time that I've had it are the seat, rear cassette, plus other general maintenance items such as chain, cables and housings, brake hoods, handlebar tape, tires, etc. Everything else is as I received it from the original owner.
As the pictures show, the frame does have a number of chips and nicks in various places, however, the original red paint still retains quite a bit of it's original luster, the bike shows well and there has never been any major damage to the bike. It is light (20 lbs 8 oz ) and quick for it's age and has a short wheelbase, which helps it corner better than many more modern bikes. The bike still rides great. Shifting is quiet and smooth, wheels roll well and true.
