                Please checkout my 100% Positive feedback and bid with complete confidence.  (And please check out the other beautifulpots that I have on eBay.)                You are bidding on a rare museum quality St. Ives teapot by BritishMaster potter the late William Marshall.                            ...         DESCRIPTION:  One can almost “feel” the handsof a master potter at work on this world class teapot from the late WilliamMarshall.  The body is exquisitely proportionedand the added elements- angled spout, handle loops, and button-nobbed lid - areall superbly executed.                A speckled gray glaze adorns the lower section of the teapot.  Over the top portion the potter has applied acreamy nuka glaze which is further adorned with masterful delicate brushwork ina floral motif.                The teapot stands 6 ½” tall to the top ofthe lid (10” to the wicker handle) and measures 8 ½” wide to the end of thespout.  It is in mint condition- nochips, cracks or repairs- and has the potter’s personal seal as well as that ofthe Leach St. Ives pottery.  (There isone possible minute glaze flake on the rim that is of no consequence andmentioned strictly in the interest of full disclosure.)                ABOUT WILLIAM MARSHALL:  WilliamMarshall was born in 1923 in St. Ives and became the first apprentice at theLeach Pottery in 1938 when he was only 14. Apart from a wartime interruptionwhen he was conscripted into the army, he worked there for 39 years. Heinitially trained and then worked with David Leach until David left to set uphis own pottery in Devon.  William thenworked alongside Bernard Leach as his foreman and teacher to manystudents.  As Bernard grew older, Williamwould often throw the pot to Leach's design leaving only the neck and thedecoration to be finished by Leach.  Marshall left in 1977 to set up his own pottery in Lelantwhere he was joined by his son Andrew.  Mr. Marshall passes away in 2007. His pots are eagerly sought by collectors worldwide and are included inmany important publiccollections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum.                SHIPPING: Winning bidder pays for insured UPS Ground or USPS Priorityshipping.  Winning New York bidder paysapplicable state sales tax. International shipping charge is $60.  Winning international bidders areresponsible for any import taxes imposed by their particular country.  Payment via PAYPAL is due withinfive days of the end of the auction.
