This is a very old (turn of the Century) "Swiss Weather Prophet" as it is so titled by the Keydel Company featuring Hansel & Gretel on one side and the witch on the other. The instructions are intact on the back (though somewhat wrinkled and in delicate condition as it is paper) but legible nonetheless. The small house is diorama 3-D style and has the Black Forest German look to it. There is a deer head mounted to the top and a bird perches off to the side. ...I searched out these weather prophets and only found a few examples of ones made by this company. There was a small bird house on the roof at one time but it is gone. There was paper on the stage of the house with a barometer scale but much of it has flaked off. The word variable remains as does part of the scale. The graphics in back of the cabin (peek inside) are creepy - a black kettle, a fire, a black cat... all symbolic of Hansel & Gretel, and are very much intact. There is some wear to the cabin but overall, for it's age, it is in good condition and will still stand the test of time if it is kept well. The thermometer is intact and the witch and the children are still looking good. Oh.. and just FYI - It does appear to work, at least, it was predicting "variable weather" all day and the weather has been variable here. The temperature is correct as well. The cabin measures approx 5 x 7. Please view photos and ask any questions prior to purchase. Thanks for looking!
