This spectacular antique tin toy patriotic drum is pretty good sized, slightly under 12" in diameter x 7" thick and it is marked "Made in U.S.A." on the sides. The drum is fairly sturdy and well made with really good attention to detail and on the top it says it has a "Genuine Skin Head". The tin litho sides of the drum are beautifully decorated with magnificent, 12" embossed American eagles and colorful red, white, and blue flags. The 1 1/4" wide red tin rims are held together a...nd tightened with scarlet silk rope and red tanned-leather slides(!) The top skin head and the bottom oilcloth head are damaged and the drum needs to be properly tightened and repaired but the tin sides and rims are still in excellent original condition. The drum should be fixed up before it is played but it displays OK just like it is. My best guess as to age is ca. 1920s-30s or older. Decorative and very unusual!
