Vintage 1990 AMI 20 MHz 386SX Cache Motherboard For XT Case, With 4MB RAM,
Item History & Price
AMI XT form factor motherboard from 1990, 8 ISA slots, 4MB DRAM, 32KB SRAM cache and 20 MHz 386SX CPU.
Here is an unusual motherboard from 29 years ago. It was made by AMI (American Megatrends Inc.) as a way to upgrade an old PC in an IBM XT or XT clone case. AMI is known mostly for writing BIOSes for IBM compatibles, but in the late 1980s and early 1990s they were also one of the most respected motherboard manufacturers.
Unfortunately, I have... not been able to get this motherboard to POST. I have tried it with a known working keyboard, power supply and video card, and with two different sets of RAM, but I get no signs of life. I don't see any obvious signs of damage, so someone might be able to get it working. The original RAM is still installed: 4 Samsung 70 nanosecond 1MB 30-pin SIMM plus 4 empty sockets. The empty socket near the middle of the motherboard is for an optional 387SX math coprocessor. Still, this motherboard may have died decades ago, so I am selling it to someone who can appreciate it as a piece of art or nostalgia.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have about this item before purchase.
