Rare and beautiful ZARIA 17 Jewels - Soviet Union, USSR men's wristwatch
The Penza Watch Factory was born in 1935. The foundation of the plant had been built for a long time, but the watchmaster were employed at other factories, while the future-director took part in an internship in France at the Lip plant. The first watches of the plant were "ZIF", later to be called "Zvezda". The Penza Watch Factory, like all watch factories of that time, established the production of Pobeda... watches in 1946. Three years later, when the equipment and standards of manufacturing the watch was mastered, the plant decided to transfer the technology to another plants, and its products were assigned only women's watches. In the middle of 1950s, Vesna, Mayak, and other names were no longer used, as all the watches began to be called "Zaria". Female gauges of this brand were so simple that any senior pupil could repair with a screwdriver in his hands. Reliable, accurate, and easy to repair, they quickly became popular among Soviet women. In the late 1970s, the watch factory celebrated the release of one hundred million watches. A huge figure, isn’t it?
