Vintage ALLEN MERCURY 35 Diesel RC Model Airplane Engine NEVER RUN, Kieth Laumer
Item History & Price
First off I know nothing about this hobby so sorry if i get some stuff wrong in the above specs.
I got this engine as well as 2 others back in the 1990's from a late friend and avid RC model builder of the the 1950's - 1960's. His name was KIETH LAUMER from Brooksville Florida. He once showed me articles in RC magazines that he was in and wrote articles for.
from wiki:
Model airplane designerLaumer was also a model airplane enthusiast, and published two dozen desig...ns between 1956 and 1962 in the U.S. magazines Air Trails, Model Airplane News and Flying Models, as well as the British Aeromodeller. He published one book on the subject, How to Design and Build Flying Models in 1960. His later designs were mostly gas-powered, free-flight planes, and had a whimsical charm with names to match, like the "Twin Lizzie" and the "Lulla-Bi". His designs are still being revisited, reinvented and built today.
As far as i can tell this engine has never been used or ran and is still in original box with original contents. I did notice while taking the photos that the booklet said 35 instead of 25 on the box. Might have been an error or he put the wrong contents in. I have no way to tell if this engine is a 2.5cc or 3.5cc? the photo on the box looks like the engine. the engine does not turn over but i'm sure it can be un-seized with some solvent. Please see photos for condition and please contact me if you have any other questions of corrections i should make. Thanks for viewing.
Update: I was informed by a good ebayer that this engine is in fact a 35 (3.5cc) so it looks like the box was swapped back in the day by Kieth.
