This is a limited edition Iditarod Trail Race Collectable Plate, #200. It was made by Royal Blue Chateau Collector’s Plates by Tidemark Company. This plate shows Joe Redington Sr., the “Father of the Iditarod”, as well as a list of the Iditarod Checkpoints. The plate is in perfect condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing. The blue, gold, and white colors are bright and clear. It is approximately 7-1/4 inches across. I believe it is second in a... series. There is a hanger on the back, but I have no idea whether this was added sometime in the last 40 years, or is original. The original box is intact, though a little bent on one side and has a spot or two on the bottom (see the photos for details). There is a handwritten “200” on one side, which I assume is referencing the plate number. The plastic cover is getting brittle with age, but is still intact as well. I am going to wrap this box separately from the plate for shipping to provide superior protection for both the plate and the box. Now, about the pricing. I have researched this extensively. There are no similar plates on eBay, even in the “sold” section. The only price I’ve been able to find was an online store where it was listed for $495 plus shipping and handling, out of Nome, Alaska. I’ve posted a screen shot of that listing. I’m going to give it a “middle of the road” price and see what happens. If you have more information I would love to hear it. I try very hard to describe items accurately, but they are sold as is, so please ask if you have questions. Check my feedback rating and buy with confidence!
