Westinghouse Hall China refrigerator dish in yellow. Circa 1939. This dish was a promotional item for purchasing a refrigerator and made by the Hall China Company based in Liverpool, Ohio. The company was contracted by refrigerator manufacturers to make leftover, butter, cheese, and water ‘refrigerator-ware’ for their refrigerators in the 1930s and 1940s. Robert Hall developed the new process of single-firing wares to eliminate a second glaze firing and therefore... speed production. This also allowed for brilliant colors to be used. This small leftover dish is ink-stamped on the base, “Made Exclusively for Westinghouse By The Hall China Co. / Made in U.S.A.” There are no chips, cracks, crazing or surface wear. Finish is shiny and glossy. Excellent condition. 7" x 4 1/2" x 3 3/4" (h)
