Hard to find photograph of this iconic star of yesteryear. I sold this previously (advising buyers I did not know if autograph genuine or not). The buyer returned the photograph claiming they had checked it out and the autograph was not authentic. Regardless, this is a great photo. SOLD AS IS, NO RETURNS.
This autographed photograph was purchased 9/30/07 at Northridge Swap Meet (San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles County) from an established paper dealer..., Vaughn Fregoe, 818-802-0400. He assured me that it was authentic, having purchased it from the estate of Dolores Mills, a second generation Los Angeles area collector. I went online back in 2007, but only found one sample signature for this star. See last photograph.
Photo measures 7" x 9". No white border, only a tab of it reading; Copyright 1942. Paramount Pictures, Inc. Autograph reads For Jonny Walkin Greetings Paulette Goddard. This appears to be a publicity photograph. There is a typewritten blurb about her on the back. There is masking tape on the back, which I did not try to remove.
I went online back in 2007, but only found one sample signature for this star. See last photograph.
Paulette Goddard (June 3, 1910 – April 23, 1990) was an American actress, a child fashion model and a performer in several Broadway productions as a Ziegfeld Girl; she became a major star of Paramount Pictures in the 1940s. Her most notable films were her first major role, as Charlie Chaplin's leading lady in Modern Times, and Chaplin's subsequent film The Great Dictator. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in So Proudly We Hail! (1943).
