Beautiful quality genuine 118 year old sterling silver box, with a hinged lid and all-over decorated with an attractive planished/hammered finish in the Arts & Crafts style. It has an ornate protruding silver rope-twist border edge rim to assist lid opening and inside it still has a partially gilded interior. Weighs 57 grams and t there are no added personal engraved monograms.Measurements Measures approx 3.5 inches (88mm) x 1.45 inches (36mm) and is 1.15 inches (30mm) deep.Date English antique late Victorian solid sterling silver with a full set of English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1901 (date letter "b"). Excellent clear struck marks on box and lid.Maker Silversmiths initials "D & F", (Deakin & Francis Ltd). Condition Good condition, with no splits or repairs, definitely no wear holes and no nasty knocks or dents, just has little age-related surface bruises from normal use, really nothing at all bad and nice genuine antique silver box. The silver lid hinge lid works perfectly and the lid opens and closes securely. Some of the original gilding is still intact, has some snuff residue in the corners.
