It's my pleasure to offer at auction a somewhat Scarce 1923-1924 FOUR BROTHERS (Pflueger) No.347 "MOHAWK" 200-YARD RAISED PILLAR SALT WATER CASTING REEL WITH RARE ORIGINAL MAROON CHIMNEY BOX & ORIGINAL "DAZIE" THUMB BRAKE. The "Mohawk" was another of the Four Brothers models that were never cataloged. It's believed they were only available for a couple years and because it carries a 1923 patent, I assume they were offered in 1923 and 1924. The face plate is stamped "MOHAWK Trade Ma...rk" below the "4 BROTHERS 4" logo, while the tail plate reads "PATENTED JAN. 22, 1907 - APR. 3, 1923". Under the foot is the "200" yardage mark. A double multiplying nickel plated reel which comes equipped with raised pillars, strong clicker, removeable oil caps (one with a sliding covered oil port), a counterbalanced handle with a rubberoid grip and the original "Dazie" wooden thumb brake. The wood on the thumb brake is stamped "FOUR BROTHERS - DAZIE THUMB BRAKE - PAT'D. MAY 31, 1921 - SIZE 1-7/8". Reel is in Very Good condition for these, showing moderate overall wear and still displaying nicely. It appears three screws are newer replacements. Reel works perfectly and is very smooth-running. Put up in the rare original maroon "chimney" box, in about Good condition, with overall wear and a few old repairs to the box bottom. It remains very solid and complete, with a nearly full top label that is correctly marked for the reel. A very tough, seldom offered combo from Four Brothers/Pflueger, all original and complete.
