Vintage Swiss Blue/Green Guilloché Enamel Pendant/Necklace Watch-Sterling/Diamonds? LOOK!
Estate find! While I don’t know too much about watches, I did a little research and will do my best to describe this interesting and beautiful vintage piece. It is kite-shaped, and measures approximately 35mm tall by 27mm wide (links not included). It probably dates to the 1940s or 50s.
The watch face is simply marked “SWISS, ” and the case did not open when I tried to gently pry it a...part so I’m unsure of the manufacturer. However, I’ve seen some similar ones of this approximate age done by C. Bucherer, so perhaps he was involved in its creation? A more modern clip link has been added to attach it to a chain, this link is simply marked “GERMANY.“
it is hard to describe the color, a little bit like seafoam green. Under light it is a brighter green, while at other times it is more turquoise or aqua marine. I took a couple photos under flash to show you how the green pops out under light.
It features a guilloché enameled geometric pattern, with a sun motif being the common theme. This fine engraving technique adds a touch of subtle elegance to the piece. It appears to be tarnished sterling silver under the enamel, though I do not see any silver hallmarks. Both the links and a kite-shaped design on the back have a series of small jewels – possibly diamonds. I have not taken this watch to a jeweler for assessment, I am merely selling it as I found it. The edge appears to have a layer of black onyx sandwiched between more silver.
The condition is overall good, but there are a number of small spots where the enamel has worn off, as photographed. Also, I tried winding the watch and it did not start ticking – I am unsure of how much mechanical work would be required to get it running again.
