This is an antique sterling silver ladle made by Richard Gurney and Thomas Cook. It is made in the Rococo style with asymmetrical design elements using seashell motifs and a scalloped edge. There is a repair to the handle which in turn covered a portion of the hallmarks that indicate the production year of the piece. From the style and the history of the silversmiths, this is a circa 1750 flatware serving piece. This is a (wow!) large piece, 15” long and weighs 13oz.
