Popular among veterans and family members, battlefield pilgrimages became popular shortly after World War One. Armed with the latest cameras of the era, veterans and citizens were able to photograph what was once prohibited. Constructed of faded leather, the album spine has unfortunately worn away with age leaving the front and back covers. The majority of the album centres around daily living and vacations in Great Britain, while a handful feature post World War One snapshots, and one... war time photo. The single war time photo shows a group of Royal Flying Corps men posed around a period fighter plane. The post war photos focus on Ypres including gun emplacements, cemeteries, Cloth Hall, and most notably a tank.The tank, a British Mk IV known as "Dop Doctor" was used during the third Ypres (Battle of Passchendale). Due to the swampy ground of July/August 1917 many tanks succumbed to the mire, receiving direct hits. This is likely the case with "Dop Doctor" as a "Dop Doctor II" shows up at the battle of Cambrai in November 1917 with a different crew. An exceptionally rare photo album featuring photos never before published of well documented tanks.
