Description A beautiful English antique Art Nouveau solid sterling silver fronted and leather-bound hymn book by the silversmiths Green & Cadbury Ltd - (1903-1906) and with full English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1906. Excellent quality original 113 year old example, in superb clean condition, (hones...tly looks hardly used), contains 861 pages, all complete and includes the title page. The silver front cover is decorated with embossed cherubs/angels and clouds in the style of Joshua Reynolds and has an attractive stylised Art Nouveau border edge. It is bound in the original undamaged soft black leather and there are no added personal hand written inscriptions. One of a matching pair of silver prayer and hymn books currently being listed. Measurements Measures approx 2.2 inches (55mm) x 1.95 inches (49mm) and is 0.75 inches (20mm) thick.Date English antique Edwardian solid sterling silver, with a full set of English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1906 (date letter "g"). Excellent clear struck marks.Maker Silversmiths initials "G & C Ltd", (Green & Cadbury Ltd - 1903-1907). Condition Superb clean condition, with no splits or cracks to the silver front, no solder repairs, definitely no wear holes, and no knocks or dents, a beautiful undamaged example, hard to find in this condition. The soft black leather binding is original and also is in superb condition, (no splits or cracks), and the gilt tooling on the spine is bright and unworn.
