Up for sale are two Britains Ltd American Civil War plastic toy soldiers. Made in England. One is a Confederate soldier (South) in a grey uniform; the other is a Yankee soldier (North) in a navy blue uniform. They stand up on their bases. There are some details stamped on the underside of the bases - "Made in England" and "Britains Ltd". The Confederate soldier also has "Reg. Des Nos. 929358/9" stamped on the base. I've added photos. I've tried... to date them as best I can, but maybe give or take a couple of years from 1971. For those local to me or who can remember the shop (or chain of shops?), I bought them from K & K Creative Toys in Indooroopilly Shopping Town, a large shopping mall in the suburb of Indooroopilly in Brisbane, Australia. Early 1970s, certainly - I reckon 1971. They seem to be hand painted and are in good condition. They have been kept in a box in the ceiling and so haven't seen the sun for over 4 decades. Consequently, the paint isn't faded and the plastic isn't brittle. The grey Confederate soldier has moveable arms at the shoulder joint and can also swivel slightly at the waist. He comes with a rifle and a removable back pack. I also have a spare rifle and a spare (broken) back pack for him. The blue Yankee soldier doesn't move. The photos have a ruler so you can jude the size. EBay suggested a starting bid of $40.00, but I've gone way below that to start with.I hope the photos will help answer any questions, but feel free to email me with any queries, or if you know details about them that you are happy to share with me.
